We live in a consumer culture, where most people spend time only consuming (taking) rather than creating. It’s almost like a disease that we only consume. Much of the time men hold themselves back because of fear of not being good enough at creating art, writings, films, music, etc. When the truth is, that sense of perfectionism is more crippling of masculinity than anything and nothing good was ever created on the first try. It’s like we are trapped in the expectations of others, and that is a prison we put ourselves into for no good reason. The only person you have to compete against is yourself.
